Start with the line
An Asian handicap applies an adjustment to a team’s score for settlement. A minus line gives the selected team a deficit; a plus line gives it a head start. The adjustment is part of the bet, not the score displayed in the match. Always check the team, handicap, competition and period named on the market.
Whole and half goals
A whole-goal line can produce a push, which generally returns the stake for that selection. If a team is selected at minus one and wins by exactly one goal, the adjusted result is level. A minus one-and-a-half line cannot finish level when the relevant scores are whole numbers: the team needs to win by two or more goals to cover it. These are illustrative settlement examples, not match advice.
Quarter lines split the stake
A quarter line divides a selection into two neighbouring lines. Minus 0.25 splits between 0 and minus 0.5. If the selected team draws the relevant period, the zero portion pushes and the minus 0.5 portion loses. The overall result is a half loss. A plus 0.25 line splits between 0 and plus 0.5; a draw gives one pushed portion and one winning portion. Payouts on the winning portion still depend on the accepted odds.

Check what the market includes
Full-time football markets commonly distinguish regulation time from extra time, but the actual operator rules control settlement. Postponements, interruptions and in-play starting scores also need attention. Read those rules before confirming a bet.
