What are you choosing?

In standard baccarat, Player and Banker are names for two hands on the table. You can usually select either hand or a Tie before the betting period closes. Choosing Player does not mean that you personally draw the cards. The dealing and drawing rules are built into the game. Start by watching a round and locating the rules panel before deciding whether to join.

How the hand total works

Aces count as one. Cards two through nine count at face value. Tens and face cards count as zero. Add the values and keep only the last digit: a seven and an eight total fifteen, which gives the hand a baccarat value of five. The aim is to be closer to nine than the other hand. Additional cards follow fixed drawing rules; a player does not choose to hit or stand as in blackjack.

Read the exact table rules

The game name matters. Standard commission baccarat and no-commission variants can settle a Banker win differently. Extra features can introduce fees or special payout conditions. Evolution, for example, describes a no-commission version with a different payout when Banker wins on six. Use the help panel of the table you actually open, rather than transferring a payout from another variant.

Before joining What to read
Main bets Player, Banker and Tie settlement
Table limits Minimum and maximum accepted stake
Variant Commission, extra fees and exceptions
Side bets Their separate rules and payout table

Keep the results board in perspective

A road map or history panel shows earlier outcomes. It is not a reliable instruction for the next hand. Increasing a stake after a loss also increases what you can lose; it does not change the rules. Decide a spending limit and stopping time before the first round, and avoid treating a sequence of results as a debt the game must repay.

Common questions

Do I choose whether to draw a third card in baccarat?

No. In standard baccarat, drawing follows the game’s fixed rules rather than a hit-or-stand decision by the player.

Does choosing Player mean I hold that hand?

Player is the name of one of the two hands. You are selecting a result, not taking the dealer’s role.

Are all no-commission baccarat tables identical?

Do not assume that they are. Check the exact version’s payout exceptions, fees and side-bet rules.
